Patient perception of access to care and physician cultural competency
Scientific Questions Being Studied
How do patient's perception of medical/culturally-appropriate care differ between patients of different backgrounds?
- Population Health
- Social / Behavioral
Dataset: baseline patient demographics (e.g. race / ethnicity, insurance type, income, etc), social determinants of health survey, health care access / utilization survey
Univariable analysis will be performed with chi squared (given that all survey data are categorical), multivariable logistic regression will be performed
Minorities and people who are foreign born are more likely to face barriers to accessing care, and more likely to experience disrespect / culturally appropriate care despite controlling for other socioeconomic factors.
Demographic Categories of Interest
This study will not center on underrepresented populations.
