Melanoma and Associations

This project will focus on analyzing the specific associations between melanoma and other medical comorbidities, including autoimmune conditions, previous cancer-diagnosis, and endocrine-related conditions. This study will also analyze the effect of demographic variables and access to care on melanoma outcomes.

Scientific Questions Being Studied

This project will focus on analyzing the specific associations between melanoma and other medical comorbidities, including autoimmune conditions, previous cancer-diagnosis, and endocrine-related conditions. This study will also analyze the effect of demographic variables and access to care on melanoma outcomes.

Project Purpose(s)

  • Disease Focused Research (melanoma)
  • Population Health
  • Social / Behavioral

Scientific Approaches

This project will utilize a case-control based methodology to analyze differences between melanoma and non-melanoma cohorts. Statistical analyses may include various univariate analyses such as t-test or chi-squared as well as multivariate analyses such as logistic regression.

Anticipated Findings

We hope to find significant associations between melanoma and other medical comorbidities in a diverse cohort to more accurately represent the burden melanoma patients may bear as well as identify potential interventions.

Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Access to Care

This project will focus on analyzing the demographic, socioeconomic, and medical factors that may affect cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma presentation and development.

Scientific Questions Being Studied

This project will focus on analyzing the demographic, socioeconomic, and medical factors that may affect cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma presentation and development.

Project Purpose(s)

  • Disease Focused Research (cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma)
  • Population Health
  • Social / Behavioral

Scientific Approaches

Dataset will focus on patients diagnosed with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and analyze various factors including medical comorbidities, demographics, income level, access to care, and more. Multivariable regression will be used as statistical analysis.

Anticipated Findings

We anticipate finding a relationship between socioeconomic factors, access to care, and other demographic factors and worse patient outcomes for those with cSCC.
